An intriguingly beautiful place for swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling

The easy-on-the-eye Pafos Region is renowned for its sun-drenched beaches, clear waters, and wonderful coastline. The entire district boasts 27 beautiful beaches that are open to the public, 16 of which feature the iconic blue flag in recognition of their high environmental and quality standards.  An intriguingly beautiful place, the Pafos Region is a popular destination for year-round swimming, scuba diving and snorkelling.

The entire region is also home to over 50 coastal hotels, ranging between luxury, boutique, and budget, set in gardens a pebble skim from the beach (mainly used by guests staying at the hotels), affording a sense of serenity.

Blue flag beaches

Pure water, clean coasts, safety, and access for all. The Pafos Region is home to numerous Blue Flag-awarded beaches, reflecting their excellence in environmental education, management, water quality, safety, and services.

The Blue Flag is a world-renowned eco-label operated under the auspices of the Foundation for Environmental Education and is headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark. To qualify for this prestigious award, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety-related, and access-related criteria must be met and maintained.

There are 16 Blue Flag beaches in the region

The Pafos Region features 16 Blue Flag-awarded beaches, renowned for their water quality, cleanliness, and safety. Three of the beaches are in the Polis sub-region, while seven beaches have upgraded their facilities to accommodate for wheelchair users.

Alykes Beach

Alykes Beach is a quaint, sandy beach situated close to a variety of hotels in the Kato Pafos tourist area. The quality of the water is tested on a regular basis, and the beach is cleaned daily. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available on site during the warmer months of the year (April 15 – October 31). Lifeguards are on duty during the summer period and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Coral Bay

Coral Bay is one of the most popular sandy beaches in the Pafos Region suitable for families, young people, and couples. A unique bay and tourist resort, Coral Bay features a multitude of facilities and services including onsite bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, sunbeds, umbrellas, and a plethora of water sports (windsurfing, hang-gliding, jet skis and parasailing). During the summer months, many beach parties are also held at the beach attracting thousands of visitors.

Lifeguards are on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies. Accommodation facilities are available close by.

Chalavro

Chalavro is a sandy beach mixed with pebbles located in Neo Chorio, Polis. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available during the summer period. Lifeguards are also on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Dasoudi

Dasoudi is a sandy beach mixed with pebbles located in Polis. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available during the summer period. Lifeguards are also on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Faros Beach

Faros Beach is a charming, sandy beach situated close to the Archaeological Park of Pafos, featuring panoramic views of the Mediterranean and the impressive Pafos Lighthouse. The quality of the water is tested on a regular basis, and the beach is cleaned daily. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available on site during the warmer months of the year (April 15 – October 31). Lifeguards are on duty during the summer period and are equipped with first aid medical supplies. Accommodation facilities are available close by.

Geroskipou Municipal beach

Geroskipou Municipal Beach is a hub of activity that features everything from water sports and sporting tournaments, to concerts and open-air movie nights. The beach’s deep golden sands, clean, calm, and shallow waters make it a popular choice for all, including families and children.

Geroskipou Municipal Beach features a multitude of facilities and services including onsite bathrooms, showers, changing rooms, sunbeds, umbrellas, and a children’s playground.  There are also restaurants, fish taverns, cafes, bars, kiosks, convenience stores and popular nightclubs nearby.

Lifeguards are on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies. Accommodation facilities are available close by.

Kazifis

Kafizis is a narrow sandy beach with very few rocks. It is situated in the Pegeia and easily reached by bus, car, and motorbike. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available during the summer months. Lifeguards are on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Ksistarokampos (Yiannakis Beach)

Ksistarokampos is a sandy beach mixed with pebbles located in Neo Chorio, Polis. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available during the summer period. Lifeguards are also on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Laourou Beach

Also known as “Corallia Beach,” Laourou Beach is a city beach adjacent to Coral Bay and part of the popular resort area of Coral Bay. The beach’s deep golden sands, clean, calm, and shallow waters make it a popular choice for all, including families and children.

Lifeguards are on duty from April 15 – October 31 and are equipped with first aid medical supplies. Accommodation facilities are available close by.

Municipal Beach (Polis Chrysochous)

Pachyammos Bay Beach features a narrow stretch of sandy coastline with very few rocks, situated close to a variety of hotels in the Kato Pafos tourist area. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available on site during the warmer months of the year (June 1 – October 15). Lifeguards are on duty during the summer period and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Popular with the locals, the Pafos Municipal Baths is a sandy coastline with very few rocks, situated close to a variety of hotels in the Kato Pafos tourist area. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available on site during the warmer months of the year (June 1 – October 15). Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available on site during the warmer months of the year (April 15 – October 31). Lifeguards are on duty during the summer period and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

Vrysoudia Beach B

Vrysoudia Beach B is a picturesque sandy beach with panoramic views of the Pafos Harbour, castle and promenade, situated close to a variety of hotels in the Kato Pafos tourist area. The quality of the water is tested on a regular basis, and the beach is cleaned daily. Water sports, sunbeds and umbrella hire are available on site during the warmer months of the year (April 15 – October 31). Lifeguards are on duty during the summer period and are equipped with first aid medical supplies.

More Magnificent beaches:

  • Timi – Mandria is a long stretch of sandy and pebble beaches, located to the east of Pafos International Airport.
  • The beach located near the Pafos International Airport is a natural and unspoiled stretch of coastline, famous for turtle conservation.
  • The beaches west of the Pafos International Airport leading towards Pafos Town, are all within the tourist developed area and are Blue Flag-awarded.
  • The beaches located between Pafos and Cape Drepanon are all within the tourist developed area and are Blue Flag-awarded.
  • Agios Georgios Beach, also known as “Fisherman’s Bay,” is a small sandy beach with some development potential.
  • The beaches from Cape Drepanon to Lara Beach are long stretches of sandy coastline. These beaches are nature protected and are renowned for their turtle conservation.
  • Between Lara and Cape Arnaoutis are small, secluded rocky and sandy beaches ranging between 50 and 100 metres. These beaches are included in the Natura 2000 – a network of nature protection areas in the territory of the European Union.
  • From Cape Arnaoutis to the Baths of Aphrodite, there are small, secluded rocky and sandy beaches ranging between 50 and 100 metres. The most famous of these is the Fontana Amorosa and the pebble beach by the Baths of Aphrodite. These beaches are included in the Natura 2000 – a network of nature protection areas in the territory of the European Union.
  • Asprokremmos Beach is a 2km stretch of pebble and sandy coastline, suitable for swimming. Both the Anassa and Aphrodite hotels are in the area.
  • Latchi Beach is a long stretch of sandy coastline, adjacent to the picturesque Latchi Marina, with high potential for upgraded development.
