Church of St.Zinovios and St Zinovia โ€“ Statos-Agios Photios village

The St. Zinovios and St. Zinovia rural church was built in 1840 and is located southwest of the historic Statos village. The two saints were siblings, so the legend goes. Numerous patients who were ill physically or emotionally might be cured by Saint Zinovios, a physician who performed medical miracles. They suffered persecution and were martyred for Christendom. The rural church is surrounded by the historic village’s little cottages, which are now vacant. It has a stone exterior and is surrounded by a large, paved yard that is enclosed by a small fence.

Its steeple, a fine example of historic construction, is composed of hewed stone. Two distinctive arches can be found internally, one emerging from the top in the shape of a cone and the other ending in the centre of the church’s height.

Despite being a woodcut, the icon screen stands out for its extremely ancient cutting technique. The additional icons complete the wealth of the church. Along with the priest’s throne, it features two woodcut psalters.

A wooden, semi-circular structure makes up the women’s loft. The Holy Monastery of Kykkos covered the costs for several renovations made to the rural church, which accommodates approximately 200 worshippers. The dedicated wooden icon of the Saints is displayed on a showcase made of stone that is mounted to the wall to the right of the icon screen. During Saintsโ€™ Day on the 30th of October, their Holy icon is put on display for adoration.
