
ECTN European Cultural Tourism Awards 2023
1st prize for the Droushia Community in the category “Traditional skills, Crafts and Creativity”
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism congratulates, Droushia Community – Museum of Rural Life of AKAMAS, for its success in the European Cultural Tourism Awards ECTN 2023, held this year in Pafos, in collaboration with the European Tourism Commission, the NECSTouR network and the Europa Nostra organization.
The community of Droushia was awarded 1st Prize amongst 4 finalist out of 10 candidates from several European countries for its proposal for the Museum of Rural Life of AKAMAS and for its initiatives to preserve the cultural heritage but mainly for the efforts to enhance and promote creative tourism through the authentic and unique experiences offered by the community with the creative workshops, systematically held at the Museum.
Droushia Community and Pafos Regional Board of Tourism (PRBT) have been working very closely in recent years and have, among other things, succeeded in: Promoting the museum through the organization of experimental workshops as well as free guided tours, achieving further awareness of the Community and the wider area through continuous digital promotion, achieve an upgrade of the presentation of points of interest through the installation of smart signs, etc. At the same time, they work to limit visual pollution and preserve cleanliness, utilization and preservation of the natural environment, enriching the visitor’s experience and much more.
PRBT warmly thanks and congratulates the Community, the President and the Members of the Community Council and especially the secretary Marianna Koupparis for the passion, enthusiasm and devotion she demonstrates.
